Launch a new gym/fitness center in a small market that’s already saturated with gyms? This was the challenge facing the owners of CrossFit Alexandria. An abundance of 24-hour fitness centers had filled the local market place over the last 12 months, so launching a new gym was a daunting task. Add to the mix a small marketing/advertising budget and only 4 weeks until grand opening, and you are facing an uphill battle all the way.
Although we didn’t have much time to spare, our first meeting was entirely spent learning about the business and developing a clear understanding of who their ideal customers would be. Next, we quickly moved on to understanding how people will contact them, and what the “sign-up” process will be like.

It doesn’t do much good to attract a lot of attention -and send a ton of people to the website – only to lose them to a complicated or confusing sign-up process.
After laying the proper foundation, we then moved to site structure and design. We ended up with a nice functional website built on the WordPress platform.
After the initial ad ran in the newspaper they experienced a spike in traffic, but it wasn’t just “tire kickers.” The average visitor looked at over 5 pages and stayed on the website for almost 5 minutes (4 mins 59 secs). This means people were taking time to explore the site and learn more about what makes CrossFit Alexandria different.
